    Part 1 – An introduction to planning for the lesser known religious traditions of the 2022 Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education

    The session will take place within the context of the dispositions and religious traditions represented in the 2022 Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
    By the end of the session you will have:

    • An understanding of planning for Baha’i, Rastafarian and Jain traditions
    • An understanding of the ‘basics’ of these traditions
    • What to teach as ‘good practice’ and what to avoid
    • An opportunity to share good practice
    Part 2 – An introduction to teaching non-religious worldviews in the 2022 Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education
    By the end of this online session you will have:
    • An understanding of what constitutes a worldview
    • An understanding of how non-religious worldviews feature in the 2022 Birmingham Agreed Syllabus
    • Knowledge of how to teach using non-religious worldviews
    • An understanding of how to plan non-religious worldviews in your curriculum
    Part 3 – The current 2022 Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education – webinar for Governors
    The webinar content will cover how to ensure legal compliance for RE in your school and will focus on the Birmingham approach to teaching Religious Education, including the recent changes. Dr. Simone Whitehouse-James has worked in the capacity of drafting secretary for the syllabus and will explain the Conference’s decisions around the changes that have been made.
    During this webinar participants will learn and update their knowledge and understanding regarding:
    • The changes to the 2022 Birmingham Agreed Syllabus

Simone has also worked as a visiting lecturer on the Birmingham University RE PGDip course. Her commitment to the field is evident in her decision to pursue a PhD, delving into the unique approach to teaching RE in Birmingham.

Her extensive knowledge of ITT and the Early Career Framework has allowed her to support teachers, school leaders, and governors in their professional development journey. As an Induction Manager and facilitator for the Best Practice Network, she plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of educators and school leaders.
