Birmingham Live filmed rehearsals for the concerts and interviewed Paul Faulkner, Chief Executive of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce – which sponsors the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra.

“More than anything, it’s just good for the soul. If you enjoy music, you experience music, and if you participate in music, it helps to round you out as a human being. For youngsters in our city it’s a crucial part of their education,” Paul told viewers.

More than 3,000 young musicians and singers, aged 8-18, took to the stage for five nights making it one of the largest youth proms in the country.
